Gillian Powers, M.Ac., L.Ac., received her Master of Acupuncture from the TAI Sophia Institute (formerly known as the Traditional Acupuncture Institute) in Laurel, Maryland. She completed her undergraduate studies at Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina, where she majored in Comparative Religion, Sociology, and Anthropology.
As part of her education at TAI Sophia, Gillian provided acudetox treatment in Baltimore’s Women’s Detention Center and the Penn/North Neighborhood Center Substance Abuse Program. She is a charter member of Crossings Healingworks, and active in the Caring for the Caregivers and Restore and Renew programs’ complementary medical services, helping those most personally affected by war find peace through acupuncture and bodywork. Gillian is credentialed at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC and treats staff to ease secondary trauma and compassion fatigue. She is also co-founder of the Crossings Community Wellness Center in Silver Spring, MD providing sliding fee acupuncture, bodywork, and nutrition counseling. Gillian is a proud member of the Maryland Acupuncture Society.
Gillian maintains a thriving practice at Crossings: A Center for the Healing Traditions in Silver Spring, MD and co-treats with physical therapists at Integrated Therapies in Ellicott City, MD. She treats the whole person — addressing diet, lifestyle, and emotional well-being — using Acupuncture, Acupressure, Zero Balancing, chakra energy balancing, and more in support of her clients’ comprehensive health.
